The Rev’d Kevin Martin (Rector)
I was licensed as Rector of Bemerton on Monday 16th November 2020 having previously been assistant curate in the Benefice of St Bartholomew and before that assistant curate in the Shaftesbury Team. I am looking forward to serving the local community. Before training for ministry I was an Existential Psychotherapist in private practice, setting up a therapy centre and an affordable community counselling service.
I am married to Liz, who is a psychotherapist and who completed her PhD last year. Liz has four grown up children, only one of whom still lives with us full time and works in a local supermarket. The youngest two are at University whilst the eldest is a midwife in training although is currently on maternity leave having recently given birth to her second daughter.

I was licensed as a Lay Minister in Bemerton Parish in January 1995, having been admitted to the Office of Reader (as we were then called) in 1980 and licensed to St Andrew’s Laverstock. I taught Maths throughout my working life and was Head of Maths in Salisbury F.E. College when I retired in 2003, 2 years after the death of my husband Gerald. I was also the Director of Readers for the Diocese through the 1990s and a member of the Executive Committee of the Central Readers Conference in Westminster.
I have a daughter-in-law and 2 sons, including Laurence who is our St Michael’s Community Centre manager. I have been blessed with good health and a lot of energy throughout my life and enjoy many interests from painting to watching snooker, as well as being part of the church here and the PCC Treasurer.
Our Parish Safeguarding Officer is Helen Pessell.
Churchwarden with special connection to St Michaels & All Angels.
Has been a worshiper here for over 35 years. Also a local school Governor.
